- Hamid al-Din Nagauri
- (1192?-1276)Shaikh Hamid al-Din Nagauri, a disciple of Shaikh Mu'in al-Din Chishti, was born at Delhi around 1192. He spent his life in a small village in the vicinity of Nagaur and subsisted on income from a small plot of land that he tilled. He led the life of a poor peasant, was a strict vegetarian, and conversed in the local dialect. Insofar as he did not observe the con-gregational Friday prayers or was prepared to recognize the spiritual virtues of a non-Muslim, Hamid al-Din's attitude in religious matters was rather unconventional even far a Chishti Sufi.
